Start Here…

The idea of writing this blog came to me about three years ago (2017), after my mom passed away from cancer. I was searching and grasping for ways to learn more about her and her life – to find ways to stay close and connected to her.  It was the most difficult loss I had experienced, and I was struggling to make sense and meaning from it.  Now that a few years have passed, I’ve had a chance to settle into my grief, acceptance, and understanding, and I realize that I had actually known her bette[...]

Why Do The Scary Thing?

Starting a blog in mid-life (nearly 40!), is a scary thing to do, but the scarier thing really is to not do it at all. Jess Has Her Popo’s Smile

When I look at Jess, especially if I can image her face when she was a baby, I can see my mother's face.  Some words of comfort in the condolence cards I received was, "May you find comfort in your memories," and indeed they are comforting; at least for me that rings true. I recall the early days when Jess was just born, my mom and I relished in the fact that Jess had a strong resemblance to her.  We exchanged looks of happiness and delight every time someone brought it to our attention. Jess and[...]
